Chlorocebus pygerythrus pygerythrus is the southern-most subspecies of the Vervet Monkey from South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana.

C. p. pygerythrus, as Cercopithecus aethiops, was formerly divided into four subspecies:

These subspecies are no longer recognised and are synonymous with C. p. pygerythrus.
